IGREJA DE NOSSA SENHORA DA ENCARNAÇÃO
Small white church on the promontory of the village of Cacela Velha, offering a beautiful view of the beach and lagoon below.
This white church nestling on the village promontory comes alive during the Noites da Moura Encantada festival, celebrating Moorish heritage. Built in the 12th century, only the Gothic portal remains from that era. Other alterations date back to the 16th and 18th centuries, giving it a Renaissance influence. A short stroll around the back will take you to one of the most beautiful views in the Algarve. In the square, don't miss the cistern and the manual water pump.
