Mount Picota is a little less touristy than its neighbor, Mount Fóia. You can get there by taking a section of the Via Algarviana. Count on about 1h30 for the ascent from the village of Monchique and 4h for the complete observation tour. On your way, you will discover typical farmhouses, terraces of crops built by the farmers, and also plants of the region as the arbutus and the alfarroba, the carob tree. An easy hike with as a reward a breathtaking view of the ocean, Portimão and its surroundings.
