PATTON MUSEUM
Inaugurated in 1995, this museum and a monument were erected in honour of General George Patton, commander of the US Third Army, who liberated Ettelbruck during the Second World War on 25 December 1944. Numerous photographs and documents document the German invasion in May 1940, the Nazi occupation, and the liberation by American troops. Numerous weapons and military equipment are on display. General Patton is buried in the American military cemetery of Luxembourg-Hamm, in the eastern suburbs of Luxembourg City.
