The Abbess Irmine in Trier would have built in the 698 th century the same location as a monastery for itinerant monks, which it remained to the monk Willibrord in. The ensemble included several shrines, one dedicated to the holy apostles Pierre and Paul. The present church was built towards the year as a Romanesque basilica with three naves, two towers and a semicircular apse. It was transformed into the th and th centuries. It is the first parish church in Echternach.
