MARKETPLACE
The market square, which is on the route of the dancing Procession, is a major area of the city center. Its particular form comes from the route of two major Roman pathways that crossed there. At its center, the Cross of Justice, called "Urtsel" (the column of the judgment), affirmed the secular power of the abbey. Destroyed by the French revolutionary troops in 1794, it was not until 1938 that she rose… to be destroyed again in 1944. It was finally rebuilt in 1982, according to the plans of the eighteenth century.
