REGIONAL CULTURAL CENTRE DUDELANGE OPDERSCHMELZ
The need for a modern cultural infrastructure led to the creation of a regional cultural center, which opened its doors to the public in 2007. Located on the site of former forges, the Centre Culturel Régional opderschmelz boasts a large modular auditorium seating 460, a small 105-seat auditorium, rehearsal rooms for brass bands and various workshops. The venue is also home to the École de Musique Régionale de Dudelange, the Centre National Audiovisuel, the Starlight cinema and the Amarcord restaurant.
The auditorium hosts events of all kinds: jazz concerts, a singer-songwriter festival, worldmusic, contemporary theater, literary performances, dance and children's shows and conferences. Numerous new experiences and exclusivities reflect the organizers' desire to stand out from mainstream productions and to act resolutely off the beaten track, while remaining attentive to audience expectations. The full program is available on the center's website.
The center also organizes a number of events, such as the Like a Jazz Machine festival and the Touch of Noir festival, featuring exhibitions, concerts and readings focusing on noir literature and cinema past and present. It is also responsible for the musical organization of the Zeltik festival, the Fête de la musique and the Fête des cultures in Dudelange.
