The Cockerill mine is the only mine in Luxembourg with a shaft, since the minette was usually extracted through galleries. It was one of the country's main mines from 1881 to 1967, when it ceased to operate. The association Entente Mine Cockerill, which manages the site, brings together former miners who have rehabilitated the place and continue to guide the visits.
