This museum, housed in an ultra-designed building in Kirchberg, honours contemporary art in all its forms.
Since its opening in 2006, Mudam has rapidly established itself as a key venue for contemporary art in Luxembourg. The magnificent building, designed by the renowned Sino-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei, is characterized by its expansive glass roof, and is a major contributor to this success.
Erected on the historic Dräi Eechelen site (Parc des Trois Glands) overlooking the splendid historic center of Luxembourg City, it symbolizes the country's openness to modernity and contemporary culture. The acquisition policy for the museum's collection is resolutely geared towards the younger generation of artists who are seizing current trends in photography, painting, drawing, video, new technologies, fashion, design, graphics, sound and architecture. The collection, which also includes works of reference, is unveiled in stages through temporary presentations. Mudam calls on leading artists to develop its collections and continue its development, as in the work of the Bourroulec brothers, who created the design for the Mudam Café (occupied by Chiche!, open during museum opening hours). This is where you can end your visit and discover Lebanese cuisine. A well-known franchise that facilitates access to employment for migrants and refugees.
There's no doubt about it: Mudam is a must for contemporary art lovers and architecture enthusiasts alike. Guided tours are also available.
