ESCAPARDENNE
Intended for experienced hikers, this trail allows you to discover the Belgian-Luxemburgish Ardennes in several stages.
Escapardenne Eisleck Trail is a cross-border hike that aims to promote the heritage of the Belgian-Luxembourg Ardennes. It has been awarded the Leading Quality Trails - Best of Europe, a labelling system for walking routes, applicable throughout Europe. It is made up of 104 kilometres of signposted routes from the Rhine basin to the Meuse basin, and six discovery loops which go from the small, discreet paths along the valleys to the wide, open paths on the heights of the plateaus. These loops, ranging from 30 to 98 km each, have no physical markers but are equipped with a GPS route, a smartphone application and hiking maps. All together, they represent more than 300 km.
Escapardenne Lee Trail. Since 2015, a 53 km extension named Escapardenne Lee Trail connects Kautenbach to Ettelbruck. This trail is also certified by the Leading Quality Trails - Best of Europe. On the route, there are several places of interest to discover, such as the Gringlee in Bourscheid-Moulin, the Molberlee in Hoscheid or the atypical village of Dirbach. The Escapardenne Lee Trail is divided into three walking days: Ettelbruck - Bourscheid/Moulin (17.6 km); Bourscheid/Moulin - Hoscheid (19.6 km); Hoscheid - Kautenbach (15 km).
For each route of the Escapardenne Eisleck Trail and Lee Trail, a package system with travel without luggage and half-board accommodation has been set up. For the more adventurous, there are some bivouac sites along the route.
