IGREJA DE NOSSA SENHORA DO Ó
Church in early Rococo style with Oriental-style wooden panels depicting pagodas and birds.
The church was founded by Duarte Coelho, who spent time in Asia. Built in 1717 in an early Rococo style, this church with its rich gilded ornamentation also bears witness to the influence of Macao. Wooden panels near the vault depict pagodas and birds in an oriental style known as "Chinese", reflecting the influence of artists from this Portuguese colony in China. The painters depicted biblical characters on the paintings with slanting eyes.
