Didier Birée is a craftsman based in Alençon. Known as Spiromix, he is passionate about upcycling and creates unique pieces from recycled objects. His work focuses mainly on the creation of lighting fixtures, inspired by 1930s lamps, but he also creates other playful, poetic sculptures. Didier Birée uses materials such as tinplate and stainless steel to give new life to our everyday objects. His creations reflect emotion and transport the imagination between childhood memories, a desire for adventure, and romanticism. He favours recycling in his work, using objects found in flea markets, attics, and industrial scraps. The light sources he uses are low-energy and comply with current standards. Didier Birée’s creations are exhibited in galleries and boutiques in France and New York, and it is also possible to place personalised orders.
