GUISH HOTEL
A listed hotel built in 1630, with stone and brick facades and a park to visit.
The Hôtel de Guise is one of the most sumptuous monuments of Alençon. The current headquarters of the prefecture, this building was built around 1630 in a pure Louis XIII style with its facades mixing stones and bricks. Owned by Elisabeth d’Orléans, widow of the Duke of Guise, this beautiful building was acquired by the town before welcoming the first prefect of the Orne at the beginning of the 19th century. Currently, only its park can be visited. The building has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1903. Note: opposite, the chapel and the birthplace of Sainte-Thérèse are located.
