LA MARIPOSA SPANISH SCHOOL & ECO-HOTEL

The Mariposa offers two different formulas, both offer 20 hours of weekly courses. You can then choose to stay in the eco-hotel and participate in many cultural and tourist activities (the programme renews every month, it is the more «luxury» version) or to stay in the living room and make a volunteer (the more «economic» version). Paulette, from the United Kingdom, fell in love with Nicaragua in 1987. In 2006 she returned for good and founded La Mariposa. Spanish school, eco-hotel, but not only. La Mariposa, and its association Tierra, is above all a beautiful local development initiative. Once the members of the paid team and the paid invoices are paid, the funds collected are fully invested in the financing of many ecological and social projects: distribution of ecological furnaces to limit deforestation, construction of latrines (dry toilets), cooperative women in bakery and sewing, donation of school materials to different schools, literacy courses, tree culture in order to plant certain areas, work in collaboration with Nnational Volcano of the Masaya Volcano to develop an eco-tourism project… It is important to stress that all these projects are initiatives originally emanating from local communities. The La Mariposa team reviews applications and then defines priorities and action plans based on available resources.
