LE MONUMENT DE LA VICTOIRE
Monument sculpted by Marcel Pierre, installed in La Ferté Macé, depicting an allegory of victory over the Germans.
This monument, sculpted by Marcel Pierre - an artist from Ferté - and erected in 1928, is an allegory representing victory over the Germans. The artist sculpted several patriotic and religious monuments in La Ferté-Macé and Bréel, where he was born. This one is remarkable for its size and its 4-part depiction of the 14-18 war, including a scene showing a soldier emerging from a trench, and another depicting a family reunion. In the past, the soldier trod on a golden eagle (Germany), which the artist had to remove in 1940.
