SAINT GERMAIN CHURCH
Church featuring hybrid architecture and housing the listed portrait of Marguerite de Lorraine.
The construction of this lacy stone edifice spans more than three centuries (15th, 16th and 17th) and blends three styles: Gothic, Renaissance, and Classical. Highlights include the large bell tower, the magnificent north porch, and the lantern tower; inside, the Renaissance choir, the Gothic nave with its cross aisles, rose-painted ceiling, and chiselled keystones (grandiose!). The church also houses the Monument Historique portrait of Marguerite de Lorraine, Duchess of Alençon for thirty years, who died in 1521, and a magnificent painting by Hillemacher.
