DACHANG VAJRADHARA LING
Center of the Kagyupa school of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by a great Tibetan meditation master in Aubry-le-Panthou.
A charming little village, with its stone church and half-timbered houses, Aubry-le-Panthou is home to... a Tibetan centre. That's not common! In the middle of the fields, in the hilly countryside between Gacé and Vimoutiers, you will see a golden column rising in the distance. This is the stùpa (Buddhist architectural structure) whose 23-metre high arrow is the symbol of the centre called Vajradhara-Ling. Let's call it "the Garden of the Diamond Bearer". This centre of the Kagyupa school of Tibetan Buddhism has the status of a Buddhist congregation. Founded in 1982 by a great Tibetan meditation master, the site focuses on the study and practice of meditation. It is organized around a temple and a 3.5-metre high prayer wheel that contains more than 100,000 printed sheets of 100 million mantras dedicated to Dordje Sempa, the Buddha of purification. Courses and meditation retreats open to all, beginners or experienced, are organised all year round. The best way is to check out the website and Facebook page. Same for site visits: the centre is closed during retreats.
