Arboretum on the road to Pelješac where you can see a plane tree, bamboo, olive trees and others, as well as a fountain and a chapel.

The Garden of Eden in the Dubrovnik region has a name: the Trsteno arboretum on the road to Pelješac. It was here, in 1494, that Ivan Marinov Gučetić-Gozze had his summer residence built, which he surrounded with a Renaissance-style garden. The Gučetić family had close relations with the Ragusan sailors, who brought them various exotic species. The villa and its park soon became an important centre of the cultural life of the republic. The poetess and muse Cvijeta Zuzorić frequently visited it, and it was here that the humanist Gučetić wrote many philosophical essays. Titian is also said to have been on the house's guest list, as well as, later, Lord Byron.

The original villa had to be rebuilt after 1667. A new garden in neo-Romantic style was created at the end of the 19th century on the Dvarica grounds, leading down to the sea. The garden was nationalized in 1948 and is now owned by the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. It has survived almost intact, apart from some damage caused by the earthquake of 1667, the war of 1991 and, finally, the fire of the year 2000. The entrance is magnified by a hundred-year-old plane tree, then there are olive trees, oaks, cypresses, Aleppo pines, pomegranate trees, palm trees, bamboo...

Also to be seen, an old oil press(mlinica), the Neptune fountain dating from 1736, with its red trout, the aqueduct, the chapel of Saint John, the panoramic arbour on the Adriatic.
