ERG ADMER
Djanet site to discover dunes and Neolithic rock engravings depicting a crying cow.
Some 20 km west of Djanet, Erg Admer, though modest in size (100 km long by 20 km wide), is often the first opportunity to indulge in daydreaming as you follow the gentle curves of the golden or pink sand dunes, depending on the time of day. The most remarkable dune is that of Tahort, some 60 km from the town. Here, you can also observe rock engravings, notably the bas-relief of the Weeping Cow on the eastern edge of Erg Admer, dating from the Neolithic period.
