ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ZAGAZIG
Museum displaying archaeological finds from the Boubastis excavations, the Kufur Nigm necropolis and 134 tombs.
The museum opened in 1992 within one of the largest universities in Egypt. It displays more than 2,000 archaeological pieces from the Boubastis excavations, the Kufur Nigm necropolis, and the 134 tombs explored, most of which date from the dynastic period. One of the most interesting pieces is a rectangular clay coffin, its shape and size reveal that the dead were buried not lying down but in a fetal position.
