Ancient site of the capital of the Hyksos, which founded the th and th dynasties (1730-1530). It is called in Arabic Tell el-Daba. The site was created in 2040 by Khety. The most important remains are the temple founded by Amenemhat I, the first king of the th dynasty (1991-1785). It was during the hyksos period that the city spanned almost 3 km; a citadel of that time was recently found.
