NECROPOLE
Ruins of the ancient city housing the cat necropolis, brick tombs, family tombs and the Ramesside treasure.
Only a small part of the ruins of the ancient city is accessible, the city of Zagazig and the cultivated fields having covered most of the site.
Necropolis of cats. Discovered in 1880 by chance during the cultivation of fields. It is a maze of galleries where bronze statuettes of Bastet were found.
Brick tombs. Updated in 1978, they date from the Old Empire.
Family grave. Large grave of 15 m x 12 m, discovered in 1983
Ramesside treasure. Discovered in 1906 during the construction of the railway line to Cairo.
