If you like fish and seafood - or culinary experiences that are out of the ordinary - don't miss this market. On the waterfront, facing the harbor, it sells fresh products by weight: customers bring them to the cook, who will prepare them according to their tastes. Grilled, sautéed, a la plancha, with spices, fried... Many options are available. You can also order ceviches and fish tacos before taking a seat at one of the large tables to share.

The food needed more flavor, their sauce was too watery, the Lobster was rubbery and should have melted in my mouth, the potatoes were still hard, needed to be cooked more a needed seasoning. I will not be going back, I wasn’t impressed for the price the quality or flavor wasn’t there!

Saturday 3/16/24 Dinner at Ports O' Call Village in San Pedro with my cousin. Enjoying michaelda, shrimp cocktails, fish ceviche, and oysters by the oceanfront with a calm weather and no rain with fresh air and some smell of the seafood cooking.

The old Ports O Call Village has been demolished and plans to rebuild it is under construction which will take about two years according to a staff working there (unconfirmed). Right now, there are trailers and tents set up for the fish market food vendors and customers. They have set up a high technology ordering system. Each table has a bar scan with table number where you can order through your cell phone and they will bring your ordered of foods and beverages to your table; very convenient and no need to wait in line. Great ordering system!

I can’t wait until they are done rebuilding the buildings where it will be more permanent and return to it original Ports O’ Call Village’s essence that I’ve known before. Or to start a new tradition in all the newly built buildings.

Three stars is generous. The view is nice but this place reminds me of a tourist trap food truck park, not a fish market. They serve Pepsi instead of Coke and Hunts ketchup instead of Heinz, yet the prices reflect the quality of a top-notch establishment. You scan a QR code and order online. Their wifi doesn't work (unable to obtain an IP address). Food is prepared in trucks at the front of the establishment, and someone brings it to you. They add a 3.5% venue surcharge for "healthcare and other administrative costs" (not a gratuity). Plus, they ask for a tip for the service of bringing your food to you. Just raise the menu price to reflect these costs. Parking is free down at 22nd St, and a free trolly will bring you here if the small parking lot is full. Food wasn't bad but could have been better.
