Christ Cathedral
Christ Cathedral is a true postmodernist monument with a majestic organ of 17,106 pipes
Built with donations from faithful listeners, this cathedral is the work of architect Philip Johnson. A true postmodernist monument, its walls and vaults are covered with some 10,000 panels of tinted glass, while it has nearly 3,000 seats and a majestic organ with 17,106 pipes. Since taking ownership in 2011, the Roman Catholic Church has made several additions, such as a Carrara marble altar. The centerpiece: a crucifix weighing about 450 kilograms, forged in blackened steel and inlaid with jewels.
