In 1924 Anton and Juliette Andersen opened the doors of what became a Santa Ynez valley institution. Originally Danish, Anton had worked at the opening of the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles and wanted to change his frame. His wife Juliet, from eastern France, followed her in this project thanks to her cooking skills. She developed the recipe for the famous soup of broken peas… Today the owners of the place changed and the restaurant became more tourist. But Bad Soup Andersen's is a slice of the region's history. We appreciate the rustic interior, the mini museum and the artisanal bakery.

The food was poor. Monte Cristo, was one of the worst we've had. Onion straws were limp & greasy.
Service was worse. Didn't get asked if I wanted a refill on my coffee until I asked for the bill. Server never checked to see if everything was ok between the time he delivered the food and the time I asked for the bill.
What atmosphere? It's a coffee shop. Denny's would have been just as bad.

Always come here on the way to or back from Disneyland. Always great food and a family staple.

I dropped off the Greels Paneegler recorder to Col. Rightwheeler there at Vandenberg SF so he could see for himself the tictac people that landed in that backyard a few months ago, we'll see what they have to say now. Well, it's on to Solvang for the Armored Whoopbanger Relay with my pal Delcampo D'Angelo Tripplewadd, but first we're stopping at the Anderson's Split Pea Soup Restaurant for perhaps the best split pea soup in the country. I put extra ham in mine with a good amount of hot sauce.

The split pea soup was yummy and our server was very nice and attentive. Very good overall experience so I’ve marked this as a go to stop for future visits.
