SIDEWAYS INN
Design and trendy motel in Buellton, with a boutique hotel, giving access from outside on the parking lot
This establishment is famous for having played host to the characters in Alexander Payne's film Sideways (2004). While the exterior resembles a motel - you enter from the outside and the huge window overlooks the parking lot - the interior has a boutique-hotel feel. It's designer and trendy, with meticulous decoration and an artistic touch. The swimming pool, topped by a pretty little mill, is a delight, as are the surrounding outdoor fireplaces. Families will prefer the narrow rooms with two queen-size beds.

The lounge only has sausage sandwiches. No other food.
The lighting in the room was poor. Very tight quarters. The breakfast was a joke. A bag of 1 hardboiled egg, an apple or orange, and a sugar loaded drink. Left on the door.
I could tell you (who are considering staying here) the 10 things wrong/broken with my room, I could carefully detail the rudeness and ineptitude I experienced at check-in, during my stay, and at check-out.
Finally, I could list out all the nastiness and dilapidation everywhere around the property. It was so run down and grimey.
But I'll save you the two-dozen lengthy paragraphs and simply say this: Stay here if price is your only concern, otherwise skip Sideways Inn if you care at all about quality, cleanliness, and customer service.
(Sideways management: This review is to warn others, not a request for you to use words like "strive", "valued", and "improve". Those are just words you regurgitate here in an attempt to save face. You practice none of that at the property. And that's your right, but don't insult us here pretending otherwise. And why in the world, if I'm not staying there again, would I want to spend one minute of my time emailing you, advising you on ways to improve? If you can't look around, and look at the pics I posted, and see it for yourself, you are lost. I do appreciate the email address though, specifically the domain name portion. Now I know to also steer clear of Hotel Hygge, Vinland Hotel, and the Winston on my next visit.)
We just wanted to check in as soon as possible and get rest as soon as possible. We were very tired. However, the front desk staff working at midnight on 4/11 /2024,was adding trouble and burden to customers instead of understanding other people's difficulties. When we asked for a quieter room, she didn't even need to check the computer, but she said we didn't have a room available now. I request again, please check again to see if your computer has a quiet room. Then she unwilling checked the computer again and arranged a slightly quieter room for us. She impatiently gave it to us. During check-in, if you have any questions, you need to find the answer yourself instead of asking her. She can't help you with anything. This is the attitude she gives to her customers!
