SACRE COEUR CHURCH
Art Deco-inspired church built in the 1930s with stained glass windows by Charles Lorin
Located in the Belle-Époque district of Bagnoles-de-l'Orne's sumptuous villas, the Art Deco-inspired church, all in white, overlooks the spa town. Built in reinforced concrete between 1934 and 1935, its neo-Moorish architecture features a waterfall in reference to the Bagnoles spring, while the twelve stained-glass windows by Chartres master glassworker Charles Lorin repeat the aquatic theme of biblical scenes. Pillars adorned with rosebuds pay homage to Sainte-Thérèse de Lisieux.
