The Sugar Creek Arts Festival is a local event that showcases the work of over 100 artists (ceramists, photographers, painters, sculptors, etc.) each year. This festival was first organized in 1983 to keep the heart of Uptown Normal alive during the absence of students during the summer vacations. What began as a gathering of fifteen artists displaying and selling their work in the trunk of their car now attracts more than 20,000 participants each year.
