WILDEY THEATRE
Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville worth a detour to attend performances and film screenings
Opened in 1909 as the city's opera house, the Wildey closed in 1984 after a final performance attended by more than 400 people. Recognized as a local landmark in 1986 by The Historic Preservation Commission of Edwardsville, the city acquired it in 1999 with a state grant. Its renovation in 2011 made it attractive again. Regular performances and film screenings can be seen there. Its facade and its neon sign will not leave you unmoved and are worth a visit.
