DEVIL'S ELBOW BRIDGE
The metal bridge is one of the highlights of the legendary Devil's Elbow route.
This beautiful metal bridge over the Big Piney River dates from 1923. It was built shortly before Route 66 was created and remained in heavy use until 1942, when a new alignment (Highway Z) and a bypass bridge were built. Today, it is one of the must-see places on the mythical road and was completely renovated in 2013-2014. If you have some time, go down below to enjoy the river and contemplate the bridge from a new angle. A beautiful moment to spend on Mother Road.
