Built in 1923, the largest auditorium west of the Mississippi.
The building was built in 1923 for the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (AAONMS), a congregation that included members of Freemasonry. With a seating capacity of 4,500, it was long considered the largest auditorium west of the Mississippi. It is one of Springfield's most recognizable buildings with its red brick walls, polychrome terra cotta turrets and Moorish style.
