Old station that was preserved by Laurel Richard Kane, transformed into a private tourist center and museum
This old DX station dates from the 1930s. It was preserved by Laurel Richard Kane, a long time Route 66 enthusiast who transformed it into a private tourist center and museum. Until recently, it housed a fine collection of Packards (including a 1917 model) and other vintage cars, about 20 in all. This little jewel of Route 66 was unfortunately closed and in very bad exterior condition when we visited at the end of 2022, with no announcement of a reopening soon. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
