COLEMAN THEATER
Guided tours to discover the Louis XV style theater, inaugurated on April 18, 1929 in Miami
Opened on April 18, 1929, the Coleman Theater cost its creator, George L. Coleman, Sr. a mining magnate, $600,000 at the time. Externally, the building is an obligatory eye-catcher with its Hispanic-inspired architecture. Inside, it is a rich Louis XV style décor reminiscent of certain French theaters: woodwork, gilding, carpets bearing the Coleman family seal, bas-reliefs... Transferred by the Coleman family to the city of Miami in 1989, the theater is now run by an association.
