The Golden Driller is located at the entrance of the Tulsa Expo Center. It is a 23 meter high golden statue of an oil worker with his right hand resting on a derrick. It was built in 1953 for the International Petroleum Exposition, an event that was held regularly in Tulsa from 1923 to 1979. The Golden Driller was installed in its current location in 1996 and recognized as a state monument in 1979. The inscription at the base of the statue is a tribute to the men of the oil industry.
