Route 66 Interpretive Center with an interior that takes the visitor through the Dust Bowl years
The Route 66 Interpretive Center is located in the former Chandler Historic Armory, built in 1936-37 and occupied until 1970 by the Oklahoma National Guard. Inside, the visitor is taken through the Dust Bowl years from the seat of a Model A Ford, then the 1940s-1950s in a 1948 Willys Overland Jeep, and finally the 1960s in a Ford Mustang. Several exhibits are dedicated to Route 66.
