LORETTO CHAPEL
This neo-gothic chapel is now a museum where weddings are celebrated
This neo-Gothic style chapel (now a private museum) was completed in 1878 by French architect Antoine Mouly. The building was built for the Sisters of Loreto, who established a school in Santa Fe in 1853. Its interior spiral staircase that rises without any pillars is a mystery. A recent study explains that the staircase would contain a hidden central support, made of a piece of wood with a small radius of curvature. In addition, the structure is said to be supported by one of the pillars holding up the triforium.
