Museum of Spanish Colonial Art
Museum presenting a collection of nearly 4,000 items to preserve the cultural heritage of Hispanic New Mexico.
The mission of The Spanish Colonial Arts Society is to preserve the cultural heritage of Hispanic New Mexico and its living traditions. The society began its mission in 1928 with the purchase of an altarpiece that has since been installed in the Governor's Palace. Today, the permanent collection of nearly 4,000 pieces includes both an extensive collection of catalogued objects of Spanish colonial art as well as Peruvian colonial art from the Beltrán-Kropp collection.
