Turquoise Trail is a 47-mile scenic route from Santa Fe to Albuquerque on Highway 14

This 47-mile tourist route links Santa Fe to Tijeras on the Hwy-14 through beautiful countryside dotted with old mining towns. We recommend a stop in Madrid, a lively bohemian village. In the last few miles, you can branch off onto Highway 536 to reach the summit of the Sandia Mountains (Sandia Crest, altitude 3,255 m). It's a 30-mile round trip, but the view is magnificent. The Turquoise Trail has been used as a film location for many movies, including the legendary Easy Rider (1969).
