This museum is dedicated to the scientific, historical and cultural aspects of the atomic age
The Atomic Museum was born in 1969 with the purpose of telling the story of the Kirtland military base (southeast of Albuquerque) and the development of nuclear weapons. Indeed, the first nuclear bomb test took place in the area on July 16, 1945, a few days before the attack on Hiroshima. The permanent, fun and very educational exhibits will appeal to everyone, young and old. Several planes and missiles are exposed outside.
