AVENUE CENTRE
Central Avenue is still home to many original buildings, including some in the Art Deco style, as well as numerous motels.
Coming from Santa Rosa, Central Avenue is 17 miles long in its section between exits 167 and 149 of I-40, the most interesting. A historic section of the famous Route 66 in 1937, the Avenue was lined with more than a hundred motels, hotels and restaurants in the 1950s. There are still many original buildings, some of them in the Art Deco style. The most interesting ones are in Downtown, near the intersection with the modern version of Route 66, coming from Santa Fe.
