North Rim Visitor Center providing useful information such as hiking information from the Backcountry Office
If you are planning a long hike of more than one day, you will have to go through the Backcountry Office. Permits are $10 per night of camping, plus $12 per additional person or animal. Guests at Phantom Ranch Lodge (located at the bottom of the canyon) who have made a reservation in advance (via a lottery system) do not need a permit. The visitor center offers a bookstore and a variety of souvenirs and supplies to help plan your stay. Restrooms are located at the back of the building.
