GRANDVIEW POINT
Very easy to locate in the distance at Grand Canyon National Park.
During the 1890s, gold, copper and silver mines were located just below Grandview Point. By examining the information panels on the site, it is very easy to locate the last visible mine entrances in the distance. The photos on display provide a glimpse into the lives of the miners at the time. One of the mine owners of the time, Peter Berry, built the Grandview Hotel (destroyed in 1929) at this location in 1895 and, with another owner (Ralph Cameron), established the first tourist services in the area.
