Highest point on the canyon rim at 8,000 feet (2,684 m), offering magnificent views of Mount Hayden, the desert to the east
At 8,684 feet, it is the highest point on the canyon rim. It offers spectacular views of Mount Hayden, the desert to the east, Little Colorado River Gorge, Saddle Mountain and Marble Canyon. Point Imperial also presents a rather different view than the other two popular viewing locations further south (Cape Royal and Bright Angel Point). From the parking lot, a very short trail descends a little lower to the flat rocks of the lookout, protected by railings as the terrain drops vertically at once.
