The museum opened on July 4, 2000, in the historic Casa del Desierto, the "Harvey House" that was built in 1911 for the Atchinson, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company and later by the Fred Harvey Company. The museum features a collection of historical photographs, artifacts related to Route 66 and the communities that populated the Mojave Desert. You will discover the life of the first pioneers, the history of the railroads, the automobile, the companies and the different sites.
