This art museum dedicated to the Cape Ann region presents an astonishing collection of paintings by American artists of the 17th, 19th and 20th centuries: Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer and above all Fitz Henry Lane, a painter from Gloucester whose museum houses the largest existing collection. You can learn more about the maritime traditions of the region and how they are depicted in art. The museum also owns two houses from 1710 and 1804: White-Ellery House (open May to October) and Captain Elias Davis' house (open daily).
