MAYFLOWER II
Life-size replica of the ship that brought the first pilgrims from England to the East Coast of the United States
Here's a life-size replica of the ship that brought the first pilgrims from England to the East Coast of the USA, eventually settling in the town of Plymouth. In 1620, 102 men, women and children landed in the New World after a 65-day voyage aboard the Mayflower. The ship's passengers are regarded as the fathers of the nation, as they were one of the very first waves of immigration to the New World, and the originators of the country's first lasting colony.
The 27-meter-long ship left the English town of Plymouth, which gave its name to the colony, in September 1620, carrying the Pilgrim Fathers, 35 devout Protestants fleeing persecution in England, and other Europeans seeking a place to practice their religion freely.
One of the highlights of the crossing was the signing of the Mayflower Compact. Drawn up by the Pilgrim Fathers, this pact indicated that new rules, specific to the new colony, were to be put in place. Signed by nearly half the colonists, this document is widely regarded as the basis for the United States Constitution.
After a three-year refurbishment in Mystic, Connecticut, the Mayflower II made her grand return to Plymouth in 2020 and can once again welcome visitors aboard. On board the Mayflower replica, disguised guides welcome visitors to tell the story of this historic expedition.

The ratings and reviews below reflect the subjective opinions of members and not the opinion of The Little Witty.
