HEDGE HOUSE MUSEUM
Museum that represents a good example of federal architecture and houses temporary exhibitions in Plymouth
Dating from 1809, the house is part of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society - an association of the city's historic houses - and houses temporary exhibitions. Hedge House is a fine example of Federal architecture. Built by Captain William Hammatt, it was bought in 1830 by the merchant Thomas Hedge, from whom it takes its name. It remained in the Hedge family until the death of Lydia Hedge Lothrop in 1918. The following year, it was purchased by the Plymouth Antiquarian Society for the modest sum of... 1 dollar.
