ROTCH-JONES-DUFF HOUSE & GARDEN MUSEUM
One of the first to see the potential of New Bedford, John Rotch, as a whaling port in the 1760s
John Rotch was one of the first to see New Bedford's potential as a whaling port in the 1760's. Seven decades later, his grandson, one of the wealthiest men in the city, had this house built in the Greek Revival architectural style. Two other families lived in the house, which was finally sold in 1981 to an association that preserved it. Today, one can relive the past by visiting it, and stroll in its beautiful gardens.
