Historic district that includes about twenty historic buildings built between 1790 and 1855 in New Bedford
This historic neighbourhood is the heart of the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. It includes some 20 historic buildings built between 1790 and 1855. Walking through its small cobblestone streets gives an excellent view of the city as it was during the first part of the 19th century, when the whaling industry was at its peak. The oldest building in the District is the Mariner's Home, a three-storey house erected in 1790 in a federal style.
