CAPE COD NATIONAL SEASHORE
A place that includes six white sandy beaches and breathtaking beauty located in Wellfleet.
This is undoubtedly the pearl of Cape Cod: these 40 miles of white sandy beaches, windswept dunes and wildlife are breathtakingly beautiful. John F. Kennedy loved this place more than anything else and made sure it was protected from any developers by making it part of the national natural heritage in 1961. The CCNS covers an area of 176 km2 on the Atlantic seaboard and a portion facing Cape Cod Bay. It includes six beaches that rival each other in beauty. Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Beach, dominated by its lighthouse, are popular with families, while Herring Cove Beach attracts lovers of romantic sunsets. Also check out the ponds, which are less crowded and more suitable for swimming than summer beaches. The best way to explore the area is still to hike. The Salt Pond Visitor Center, open every day of the year, will provide you with many brochures and explanations of the surrounding trails for walking and cycling. The Nauset Bike Trail (2.6 km) in Eastam, the Providence Lake Bike Trail (8.7 km) in Provincetown and the Head of the Meadow Bike Trail (3.2 km) in Truro are popular bike trails. In addition to the ever-popular beaches, there are 12 walking trails in Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown, including the Fort Hill Trail (1.6 km) and the Great Island Trail (14 km round trip).
