Renovated Portland family home with period descriptions turned into a museum dedicated to the family.
In 2002, the Maine Historical Society acquired the family home of poet Henry Longfellow. It has renovated it to the descriptions of the time - the house was built in 1785. Most of the furniture and fabrics are exact replicas. Anna Longfellow, the poet's sister, lived in the house the longest. When she died in the 1920s, she wanted the house to be turned into a museum dedicated to her family.
